McKinney's Varsity basketballers opened up with a convincing victory 69-56 at Frisco High last night. A 29-point first quarter helped propel the Lions to a comfortable margin they would never surrender. Nico Mucci heated up from the perimeter by knocking down 5 three pointers en route to a team leading 23 points. G.J. Vilarino contributed three three-pointers in the first quarter and ended with 16 points in a supporting role. Beau Smith's 10 points and Andy Lalumandier's 7 added to the Lion scoring attack. Defensive leadership was led by Joe Holley, while the Lions' team defense limited the Raccoons' leading scorer to a mere 9 points. MHS hosts Little Elm Friday night, and will enter the Plano Holiday Tournament on December 27-29 hopefully with a 2-0 district record.
